สวัสดีค่ะ - sawat di kha - hello
I've been on Koh Tao for a month now and... haven't written to you anymore. It's because the life I lead here is so peaceful, so easy, so pleasant. I let myself be lulled by the waves, I admire the view, I slowly savour each passing day.
What more can one say? I don't feel like leaving. I imagine myself spending the rest of my days here. Smiles, sunshine, beauty all around me. Why would I want to quit?
Koh Tao is not for everyone. Do you like big cities, museums, noise, big cars, inflatable neighbours? Run, run away, this island is not for you.
But if you're interested in a quiet life with nice people and a serene environment, well...come on, you'll be welcomed with open arms.
My current host, a Scot, having worked in England, Malaysia, Indonesia,... came here once, twice, three times and he finally settled. When he saw all this joie de vivre around him, he decided that he too had a right to this happiness. It must also be said that in addition to all that Koh Tao has to offer, he found Love on this tiny island in the Gulf of Thailand.
He abandoned financial security and embarked on the adventure of becoming the owner, with his significant other, of a small resort. Quite a risk when you consider the fact that they bought it at the start of the pandemic. And, despite these circumstances, there is not a day when he is not happy with the choice he has made.
Did I tell you he's Scottish... with such a lovely accent. I couldn't help but compare him with James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser, hero of the series of novels Outlanders, a comparison he favorably supports...
And now, let's talk about the pictures of my little nest for the next few days, the Tree House Cafe, and Koh Tao because... a picture is worth a thousand words.
